Red Bull Racing takes extra awards in 2022 after dominating two DHL competitions

The Red Bull Formula 1 team has won more than just the 2022 Drivers' and Constructors' championships. They also took the crowns for the year's DHL Fastest Lap and DHL Fastest Pitstop awards.

Of course, these are probably not too difficult to fathom, given the team's dominance this year, but it underlines how well the team works as a unit.

2022 was the fifth consecutive time Red Bull Racing has won the Fastest Pitstop award.

Jonathan Wheatley, Sporting Director Red Bull Racing, said: "This is an amazing achievement. I'm so proud of the team that put so much work into it and defended this trophy for the fifth time. Pitstop is truly a manifestation of team spirit."

Or, as DHL's Geoff Walsh said, the award is a testament to the team's "commitment to consistency and precision."

Red Bull secured the fastest pitstop in 10 of the season's 22 races, with the quickest coming in Brazil when Sergio Perez completed a pitstop in just 2.04 seconds. Though quick, the outright fastest pitstop in 2022 belongs to McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo: 1.98 seconds.

Verstappen on the charge

In addition to the team winning the Pitstop award, its lead driver Max Verstappen secured his second F1 World Championship in as many years. En route to achieving it, the Dutchman secured the Fastest Lap on five occasions, bagging the bonus point each one offers.

The bonus point for setting the fastest lap of a race is awarded provided the driver finishes inside the top 10.
