Kerry to begin Allianz Football League against Donegal, Waterford to face Dublin in hurling opener

Kerry will begin the defence of their Allianz Football League title away to Donegal on Sunday 29 January after the GAA confirmed their master fixture list for 2023.

Galway, who reached the All-Ireland football decider last July, are in action on the opening night of the competition away to Connacht rivals Mayo - now under the guidance of Kevin McStay - at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, while Dublin's first Division 2 game since 2008 will see them welcome neighbours Kildare to Croke Park. Both of those games are on Saturday 28 January.

Ulster football champions Derry are also in Division 2 action that night when they welcome Limerick to Owenbeg, while Colm O'Rourke will start life as the Meath manager on Leeside where they're set to lock horns with Cork on 29 January.

In the hurling, Waterford's league crown defence - and the second reign of Davy Fitzgerald - starts with the visit of Dublin, also under new management with Micheál Donoghue, to Walsh Park on Sunday 5 February.

All-Ireland hurling champions Limerick will begin their 2023 competitive calendar at Páirc Uí Chaoimh the night before where they're set to face Cork in Pat Ryan's first game in charge of the Rebels.

The league semi-finals will take place across all divisions on the weekend of 25/26 of March, as will the relegation play-offs from Divisions 1 and 2B.

Finals in both football and hurling are set to happen on the weekend of 1/2 April.

Championship

The provincial football championships will start the following weekend, 8/9 April across all four provinces, with the Connacht and Munster football finals to be played on Sunday 7 May. The deciders in Leinster and Ulster are due to take place a week later.
